I recently contacted our college age students (the ones with available e-mail addresses) To let them know that as a church we care for them, miss their presence, and pray for them regularly. I asked them if there was anything they would like to share with you in the way of prayer requests or general information about their studies. Below are several replies, we will print more in the next newsletter. Doris Kolste
It’s always good to get a letter or e-mail from a friendly face back home. Things here a NWC are going just splendidly. I am a senior this year (gasp!) and I am certainly trying to enjoy my last year to its fullest. I am a lot less busy this year than the past three, which is certainly a good thing. My involvements this year are limited to my second term as a student body president and trying to discern God’s will for my future. Things just got a little bit crazier around here with the announcement that our President, Dr. Murphy, is going to be retiring soon and we are now in the initial stages of searching for a replacement. I would like to assure the church as a whole that they do a wonderful job of raising their children in the faith, and with the biblical knowledge and wisdom to serve them, and allow them to serve, to the fullest. As far as prayer I could certainly use some prayer as I seek to discover God’s plan for me as I prepare to end my time here at NW; as of now I am seriously considering attending seminary (most likely at Western Theological in Holland MI) but I have not come to the concrete conclusion that this is what I am being called to. As you may not know I have studied in Political Science and Economics here at NW without much education in religious studies so a move to seminary is a bit frightening and exciting all at the same time. Thanks again for your prayers they are so greatly appreciated! Blessings BEN KAPPERS
The best part about college is that I can study something that I actually enjoy and I can still stay in this area and have fun with my friends outside of class. Plus I enjoy the added responsibility that comes with being a college student. STEVE ARENTSEN
I have about 3 semesters left before I graduate from UW Platteville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. There are quite a few things that I enjoy about school, but many others that I don’t like. I really miss mom’s hot suppers that always magically appeared on the table and everything just disappeared the same way it appeared. However, I realized now they just don’t appear and it takes planning to have anything decent and also if you do make anything decent it never tastes just like mom’s and there are always dishes. I also miss out on mom’s and grandma’s home cooked goods (cookies, pie & apple squares).
Please pray for me as I have to make some important decisions as to what my final classes are going to be. It is amazing how things have just fallen into place in the past year. As I approach the end God has opened many doors already at this point, and I pray that He will continue to open these doors as He has done in the past. ADAM DYKSTRA |
